So here we go, this is my research proposal
Research
Proposal
Before selecting a question, I have gone through various topics
that related to animals. I have chosen animals because I really like working
with animals and knowing more about them. Before selecting the research question
I wanted to be sure that it is 100% achievable in the given time frame. So I
have done some preliminary research, I read a few articles about endangered species,
extinction and the causes for their deaths. After a lot of research I have
chosen “what is the role of zoos in
saving endangered species from extinction?” as my research question.
Now that I have decided my question; my first step will be to do archival
research and find some reviews that summarize the topic by accessing Internet,
books and watching documentaries. I have gone
through the Education site which is a part of the zoo’s SA site and found out
that I can interview some of the zoo keepers. Once I get into my project, I
will fix an appointment with at least 2 members of the zoo, one from Adelaide
Zoo and the other from Monarto Zoo. I have emailed the zoo asking them how they
could help me and how I can book an appointment.
The next step will be
to know the Adelaide zoo’s success and failure achievements on caring for some
endangered species like the sea horses and flamingo’s they have. Some of my
interview questions will be:
·
As a zoo
keeper, are you responsible for the endangered species to get their population
up? Why? And why not?
If a particular event
was successful, I would congratulate him/her and ask a few questions which are
possibly:
·
How and what
did you do to succeed?
·
How did you
feel when the baby was born?
If the event was a
failure:
·
What went
wrong?
·
What did the
zoo learn from it?
·
What
precautions is the zoo going to take to avoid such failures in the future?
To ensure my research
is ethical, I will:
·
Be honest and
ensure that the work I do is all my own
·
Before copying
and pasting from websites, I will consider if there are any copyright laws
·
Respect the
privacy of the interviewees
I have chosen to do
the capability of communication; I want to improve my oral and verbal skills
by:
·
Writing good
emails
·
Improving my
phone manners
·
Communicating
clearly
Within the capability
of learning, I want to extend my learning skills by:
·
Reading and
knowing more than I need to
·
Not being lazy
to learn new stuff like the planning tool
Presentation and
Organization skills are where I am lagging behind, so my aim is to improve
these skills by:
·
Losing my
shyness
·
Talking freely
while presenting
·
Making good
looking slides which will have enough information
·
Organizing and
going according to the plan
My goal is to succeed through
effort in addition to my natural ability. I have made a time line, to help
myself finish the tasks on time.
